Why the **** do you have to be 21 to check in to a hotel?

Renting a room is the equivlant of signing a lease? Are you fucking retarded? Lol no offense but that really is one of the most ridiculous things I’ve ever heard
To be fair, some of these explanations make sense. I agree that a lot of people my age are irresponsible and get drunk and trash the rooms, but it’s inexcusable that hotel companies don’t make this policy blatantly clear. It seems like most hotels don’t even understand the policies they claim they are required to uphold
